New research from Borrell Associates finds that users don’t hold on to their apps
According to Borrell Associates, worldwide we’re download some 500,000 apps per hour, unfortunately for developers and brands around the world, most of those apps are quickly discarded by consumers.
The appallingly badly named report “Mobile Applications: Preparing for the App-ocalypse”, shows that while consumers have on average about 22 apps on their mobiles, after six months only one of those 22 apps stands any chance of being used.
The report also estimates that US spending for ads delivered by mobile apps will explode from $305 million this year to $685 million next year and more than $8 billion by 2015 – with $1.2 billion of that coming from local advertisers.
