iPhone gamers spend a packet

DFC Intelligence has released the results of a survey of how much money iPhone and iPod touch owners spending on games, and how often, and not surprisingly – games being one of the most popular categories on the app store – it’s a fairly hefty amount.

The survey “Consumer Trends in Virtual Goods and Downloadable Games in North America and Europe” suggests that gamers as whole are feeling the pinch with just over 39.5% of them haven’t spent anything on games in the last three months – a proportion that rises to 49.1% in Europe.

Howeve, 5.5% of iPhone and iPod touch owners have spent $30-$39 on games in the last three months, while just over 7% have spent more than $50 – a proportion that rises to 10.3% for us Europeans.
