Mobile app download site Getjar has launched the Getties a new annual competition for the best application on a mobile platform.
The awards are open to applications written for Android, BlackBerry, Java, iPhone, Symbian and even Windows.
A panel of industry heavyweights will select 18 nominees (3 in each of the 6 categories) from the applications submitted and award one winner in each major platform category including:
- Best Overall App
- Best Android App
- Best Blackberry App
- Best Java App
- Best iPhone App
- Best Symbian App
- Best Windows App
The competition is open for entries from today (May 18) and closes on June 25, 2010 with the nominees announced on July 2, and the awards announced at the Palace Hotel – San Francisco, on July 12, 2010 to an audience of developers, technology press, venture capitalists, and service providers.
