Acer launch Stream high-end multimedia smartphone

PC manufacturer Acer have launched the Stream; an Android Amoled-based high-end multimedia smartphone, optimised for watching movies, listening to music and web browsing.

The Stream is designed to be easy to use, and small – it’s just 11.2mm thick, but the screen is a massive 3.7″ – robust – it’s made from highly resistant materials, – and bright, it’s the first Acer to feature an Amoled display.

The spec for the device includes;

Display: the touch screen with AMOLED technology boasts 1.67 million exceptionally bright colors, on a generous 3.7” WVGA display. As with all Amoled displays it has a great contrast ration (2000:1) which makes for clear images and perfect legibility in any environment and light condition, and it consumes less energy than normal displays.

Connectivity: 3G+ HSDPA with speeds up to 7.2 Mbps, Bluetooth and WiFi n.

Processor: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor, with 512 MB RAM.

Multimedia features include: Recording HD videos up to 720p. RDS Radio. Dolby Mobile quality. UPnP technology enables sharing contents with other devices. Furthermore. 5 Mega pixel camera. Integrated GPS system. HDMI port for screening movies etc to a larger screen.

Memory: 2GB of internal Flash memory, plus an 8GB memory card as free bundle and a micro-SD card slot support up to 32GB.

Social Networks: All the most popular applications are pre-installed: Acer Spinlets free streaming service to browse and listen to songs from major music labels and instantly post what you find to your favorite Social Networking sites, nemo Player to enjoy multimedia content to the fullest, Acer urFooz to create your virtual “look-a-like”, add your profile and bookmarks and post it to your social networks, Facebook and Twidroid.

The Acer Stream will be available from August 9 exclusively from eXpansys for an RRP of £399 Inc Vat.
