Vodafone offers €100,000 prize to the best UK mobile startup

Got a great idea for a mobile startup? Well good news, Vodafone are offering £83,750 (€100,000) to one lucky winner, (up from €75,000 last year) and a total prize pool of £125,649 (€150,000).

The Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010 contest to find the UK’s best mobile internet startup is now up and running and all you have to do to enter is to be a UK mobile entrepreneurs and have a great idea for a mobile business.

Now in its third year, Mobile Clicks 2010 will run across three European markets – Netherlands, Portugal and UK. Entrants can compete for a slice of the prize fund by submitting entries to www.vodafonemobileclicks.com. The closing date for entries is midnight, August 22, 2010.

Vodafone says each entry will be judged on five criteria: originality, creativity and innovation; technical and operational feasibility; economic and financial viability; value to end-users; and the quality of the management team.

The judging will take place over three rounds. Each competing market will draw up a shortlist of their five best local submissions, a winner will be selected from each shortlist and finally all local winners will be invited to represent their country in a live final at the PICNIC Festival in Holland on September 24th, 2010.

The overall winner will be chosen by a panel of mobile industry experts, including Russell Buckley, Google AdMob, Om Malik, founder of the GigaOM Network, and Rudy de Waele, founder of Mobile 2.0 Europe and Mobile Monday Barcelona/Madrid.

Previous winners of the contest, include the popular augmented reality application Layar , and the competition is now the biggest mobile startup competition of its kind.
