HP’s latest purchase, Palm is offering a million dollars (that’s around £630,000) prize fund and a top prize of $100,000 (£63,000) to a lucky developer who creates the best Palm webOS app.
The Palm Hot Apps Program will reward developers of the hottest PDK applications for webOS with a total of $1 million in cash and HP products. Contest runs from July 15th, 2010 through September 30th, 2010.

To qualify for an award, your app – either free or paid – must be available to webOS users via Palm distribution programs by September 30, 2010. In addition, the following criteria apply:
- The application must be developed using the Palm webOS Plug-in Development Kit (PDK).
- Downloads and revenue count will begin July 15, 2010.
- Apps must be available for download through an official Palm webOS distribution program (App Catalog Distribution, Web Distribution, or Beta Distribution).
- Apps available for Pre and Pixi that are identical except for package ID will be counted as one app.
- Apps developed by Palm employees or their direct relations are ineligible for awards.
