European mobile usage on the up

UK and US mobile users are downloading more than 10 mobile pages a day, and that’s growing by more than 60% a year.

Opera’s State of the Mobile Web Report (http://www.opera.com/smw/) shows a continuing upwards trend in mobile usage, page views in the top 10 countries of the EU increased by 58.4% year on year, and unique users increased by 10.3% year on year, while the amount of data transferred increased by 61.0% – a figure skewed by the addition of the iPhone to the list of devices running Opera Mobile.

Spain and Germany lead the top 10 countries in the EU region in terms of page-view growth (205.2% and 120.8%, respectively). Spain and Germany also lead the top 10 countries of the region in growth of unique users (58.8% and 47.5%, respectively).

The report has no real surprises for the UK , the iPhone is still top device, and Google is still the biggest website for mobile users, page views have grown by 70.2% since September 2009m while unique-users have grown by just 14.6% for the same period. The average user now views 335 pages a month, more than 10 a day.
