YouTube announced that it’s mobile users hit over 200 million video’s a day by the end of 2010 up from around 60-70 million a day at the start of the year.
As you can see from the graph below the growth of video views via mobile on YouTube has near enough been a straight line of growth from the start of 2010, from a low of around 60-70 to peak obviously aided by smartphones received a presents.
The video views are also set to rise even further in 2011, as it has announced that it’s adding content from music video site Vevo to it’s Android app. Vevo online was according to comScore in third place in November in comScore’s ranking of sites by video views, trailing only YouTube itself and Yahoo.
In addition to adding Vevo content, the latest version of YouTube’s Android app will also add pre-roll ads before videos. YouTube’s, Mobile Product Manager, Andrey Doronichev, said
“As the world goes mobile and more people watch videos on their smart phones, we expect more partners will take advantage of these new mobile advertising capabilities and make more of their content available across more devices.”
